James
Leroy Gibbs, of Newcastle, OK, passed away on May 19, 2007. He was born
in Terre Haute, Indiana, on April 6, 1945. Jim retired from the Oklahoma
City Police Department in 1987, as a lieutenant over the homicide
division. He then worked for Chickasaw Holding Co. until he retired
earlier this year. Jim served twenty years in the Oklahoma National
Guard and was a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge in Tuttle, Oklahoma. He
enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his wife and friends, hunting,
fishing, golfing, cooking, and spending time with his family and
friends. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Meads. He is
survived by his wife, Nanette (Mooney); sister, Norma Jean Worthington;
daughter, Christine Tilley and husband, Kirk; son, Jim Gibbs and wife,
Shaunagh; daughter, Karen Duncan and husband, Chris; stepson, Richard
Holland and wife, Tamra; ten grandchildren and many friends. Memorial
services, with military and Masonic honors, will be officiated by Rev.
Richard Elhers, on May 23, 2007, at the First Baptist Church of
Newcastle, located at 1650 N. Main St. at 11:00 am, with interment to
follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens. Donations may be made to the
American Cancer Society, 2221 W. Lindsay, Suite 212, Norman, OK 73069.
Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home &
Chapel.
