We are in the process of building The Oklahoma Law
Enforcement Museum and Hall of Fame. It will be built in
Chandler, Oklahoma, along Rt 66. This site was
chosen because it is between the two largest cities in
Oklahoma, Tulsa and OKC, and on the
famed Mother Road, Rt 66. The city of Chandler in conjunction with the Lincoln
County Historical Society is leasing us a building for $1 per year until we can
raise enough money to build our own building. Remodeling has already begun on
an existing historical building through a grant from the "In As Much Foundation"
in OKC. The Oklahoma History Center has agreed to examine artifacts and items
of interest to determine if they qualify for the museum. We will also be taking
nominations for induction of 5 officers annually from across the state into the
Hall of Fame. They will receive the "Bill Tilghman Award" along with their
induction. Bill Tilghman was a famous lawman who also called
Chandler, Oklahoma his home. We will induct
our first members this fall and will
have nomination forms available in the very near future. If anyone has any
items of interest they would like to donate to the museum, they can contact me
at 405-550-6402 or Mr. Bob Blackburn at the
Oklahoma History Center. A law enforcement museum is long overdue and this one
is going to be first class. I am proud to be a part of this project and am
confident we can fill it with historical items from all over the state. If you
could forward this to the retired officers I would greatly appreciate it.
