The monthly Police Pension System meeting was held March 19th. The system continues to perform strongly and above targeted projections. The total market value of our assets, as of 02-28-14, was $2,165,431,000 ($2.165 billion). The total one year portfolio return is reported at 14.03%, net of fees it is 13.70%, and exceeds the policy index of 12.90%.
There are only 10 remaining state legislative bills (out of 67 at the start of session) that have come out of legislative committees pertaining to state pension systems in total.
The only bill that would affect OPPRS is SB-212, is a bill related to custody and disbursement of pension funds; requiring the System to refund overpayment of contributions. This is purely and administrative bill. I want to be absolutely clear… this remaining bill makes no changes to your pension benefits.
The updated system financials, agenda, minutes, etc can be accessed for your review, on the pension system web site.
I was notified this week, that you have again entrusted me to complete a full term as your District 6 Representative on the Pension Board. It is humbling for me to receive such overwhelming support and encouragement. I will continue to do my best to keep you informed and involved in your Pension System. Thank You for the opportunity to continue to represent you.
